Packaging.

I feel I am too late to begin packaging design but this piece designed for a USB really inspired me to design packaging for my client Gent, I will see if I have time to design packaging for my clients scissors and comb, creating this product would round my project off brilliantly and give it the professional touch it needs.

Baxter of California.

This Baxter of California packaging is lovely, I found it earlier today in the accessories section of Flatspot, not usually the kind of place I'd find inspiration. The brand has created a combination of both heritage and modern aesthetic giving a much more sophisticated feel through the use of typography and solid colour.

Molecular process.

Researching into how a Co2 laser cutting machine functions in order to inspire some visuals for the logo of Laserbean, the process is giving me some really nice visual ideas that can represent the company brilliantly with a minimal aesthetic.

› Electron impact excites vibrational motion of the nitrogen. Because nitrogen is a homonuclear molecule, it cannot lose this energy by photon emission, and its excited vibrational levels are therefore metastable and live for a long time.
 
› Collisional energy transfer between the nitrogen and the carbon dioxide molecule causes vibrational excitation of the carbon dioxide, with sufficient efficiency to lead to the desired population inversion necessary for laser operation.
 
› The nitrogen molecules are left in a lower excited state. Their transition to ground state takes place by collision with cold helium atoms. The resulting hot helium atoms must be cooled in order to sustain the ability to produce a population inversion in the carbon dioxide molecules. In sealed lasers, this takes place as the helium atoms strike the walls of the container. In flow-through lasers, a continuous stream of CO2 and nitrogen is excited by the plasma discharge and the hot gas mixture is exhausted from the resonator by pumps.

I will be focusing on particle activity for this project as this means working with circles which allows me to create clean sleek design.

Muscle beaver.

Really vibrant colours used for these funky poster designs, made for 90's rap parties, colour is a key to the aesthetic for our project, we need to pick colours that stand out and have high impact we have decided not to go too bright thou as to not come across tacky. We would still like to design a sophisticated considered aesthetic as to not draw in the wrong crowd.

Beever.

Very contemporary booklet design from Beever, a hair products company which utilises type to create lovely modern aesthetics for male grooming products, I found this book at my clients shop and it got ideas running all over the place for how I could better my deliverables, especially my products, not only should i use simple type and layout it made me consider how the information will sit on the products and how I can relate the layout to the subject matter.

Numbers.

As stated previously I want to use a well crafted number 5 in a serif typeface, to give a up market and sophisticated aesthetic for my Gent project, although the logo is nice I feel adding this idea will boost it's aesthetic massively, the number 5 could be used for stamps, posters and interior design, I want to create it in a circle with the burgundy shade I have chosen for the project.
The number 12 used on the front is similar to the ideas I'm having, when placed on the black background it creates huge impact for the design and leaves a traditional well crafted aesthetic.

Binding.

I found a gorgeous publication using the binding technique I decided on for this project, restoring my faith in the idea, it creates an aesthetic that represent a publication of information, which is exactly what mine will be, using inserts and other stocks throughout my publication may over whelm the information so I will be sticking to one stock for the inside of the book, I'm thinking double sided gloss as there will be a lot high res imagery throughout.

ARK.

Amazingly inspirational flyer artwork found by Dom, he already blogged these earlier but I couldn't help but blog them again, the colour choice and simple imagery creates a high impact considered design, they also utilise patterns in their designs, most probably related to house music, similar to our ideas, omething me and Dom know is necessary for our Loco project. I can't wait to see the final result as we're already coming up with some gorgeous aesthetics, if I do say so myself.

The logo is also something to look at, really contemporary creating movement and energy from simple type customisation.

Products.

As I have found so much inspiration on Niven and Joshua's website I'm going to create a post about a range of different brands creating innovative and sophisticated packaging for male grooming products, each one individually creating a beautifully minimal combination of traditional and contemporary aesthetic, a skill I need to utilise whilst designing my clients products.

Record labels.

Focusing now on record labels as our client would like to eventually extend the night to it's own record label, we need to consider how the logo would look applied across that area also, so the logo will need to be a combination of both experimental and contemporary.

These 'Call for entries' posters found on Studio Lin's website have inspired me to consider adding an extra touch to Gent's aesthetic using the number 5, although i already have a logo I want to create an additional section to the logo focusing on the 5, creating my own bespoke 5 could be a really nice idea but since finding Bauer bodoni I would like to use that 5 as it comes across very traditional with a really friendly aesthetic, I'm thinking of using it for stamps.

Aesthetics.

Some inspiring aesthetics found on Maggie Chok's portfolio, a project named we the universe uses lovely colour and structured typefaces to represent the universe, I want to find a stuctured typeface for my publication design, something that delivers a lot of information well also, Din seems like a great choice as it is ever so slightly condensed yet maintains legibility.
